Karen Scalia

Actor & Writer SAG-AFTRA/AEA

Summer 2024
Onstage at TASN "The Couch" as Emma
Coming soon, stage reading
Continued work on pilot scipt

Actor and writer, Emerson alum, and proud owner of an award-winning food and event tour business in historic Salem, MA,

I’ve performed in films such as Stronger and Gone Baby Gone; enjoyed stage performances; and hosted live events and interviews. I’ve been told I have a bit of a knack for interviewing, which might come from my love of people’s stories.  I also collaborate with other writers.

June 2024: catch me on stage at The Actor’s Studio of Newburyport as Emma in “The Couch.”

Co-founder and Owner
Eris-Scalia Productions

For over a decade, my husband, comedian and host Mark Scalia and I have enjoyed putting together special team-building events, many with a charitable component, for large and small corporate groups. We custom craft unique excursions and events that bring folks together.  The events are fun, delicious, unique and impactful.

Founder and Owner
Salem Food Tours

Since 2012…  Salem Food Tours blends my passion for great cuisine, cooking and history. Since founding this small business I have enjoyed sharing delicious, historic Salem, MA with locals and visitors from all over the world.  It’s a perfect way to understand and appreciate this much-loved city, its remarkable spice trade history, and incredible modern culinary scene. Proud to share that Salem Food Tours has won the Certificate of Excellence and Traveler’s Choice Award for over 10 years running.

Capturing in words

I love writing and deeply enjoy imagining characters and their world. My most recent work includes a short film as well as two collaborations, a limited series and a feature based on a short scene I penned. “Edge of a Black Moon” placed in the second round at the Austin Film Festival.
I’ve written other monologues, scenes, short stories, and had a holiday song produced, as well as several articles published.

I’m open to collaborations as well as proofreading creative work, research, script editing, etc.

I look forward to hearing more
about your project.
